Roll Over!

This is just a short post to share video of Dillin rolling over. He can now roll over from his tummy to his back and from his back back onto his tummy with ease!

Memorial Day Weekend at the Oregon Coast

On Friday morning we packed up the kids and headed down to Lincoln City to spend the weekend with Brooke and Blake at the beach. The Heller Family shares a house on the beach at Salishan and we hadn't been down for some time. It was the first time Austin and Dillin had been to the beach. While Dillin was a little bit young to really enjoy it, Austin had a ball!

On our way down to the coast we stopped in McMinnville to see the boys' great-grandfather, Harold. It was the first time he'd met Dillin and he really enjoyed spending a little bit of time with both boys. Friday evening we had dinner at one of our favorite spots, Mo's on the Siletz Bay. Yum, yum, do they have great clam chowder! By the time we returned from dinner it was time for the boys to head to bed. The Beach had to wait until Saturday.

Austin's buddy, Blake

Beach day! After getting dressed and getting everyone fed Brooke and I took the boys out to the beach (Blake and David were out playing some basketball, as they always do when we get together). Boy, was Austin a riot! He did not want to get his hands dirty, so every time he fell down he would hold his hands up in the air, while on his stomach in the sand, and wait for you to pick him up. On ocassion he would try and use his elbows to get up. It was pretty funny to watch.

On Sunday, we all headed out to the beach. Blake brought the kite and we watched the master at work. Again, Austin just couldn't contain himself. He screamed and hollered at the ocean and ran his little tail off. We did manage to get him to hold still for a few pictures with Dillin. After nap time (both boys slept about 3 hours, as they were so tired from all the fresh air), we headed to another one of our fave restaurants, Gallucci's Pizzeria.
Look! The Ocean!
Here he comes...
there he goes.
Blake, flying the kite.
Dillin staring at Austin giggling.
The Meyers Boys and Me
Here he's figured out that he can pick up the sand...
and eat it.

Monday came way too fast. After getting everyone fed and packed we piled into the car and hit the road. About seven hours later we made it with a lunch stop and a bit of traffic. The boys were great and the portable DVD player came in handy! We had a great time with Brooke and Blake and hope to spend more time with them IF they move up here!

Much Needed Update!

Well, I have been a bad mom again. It's been ages since I've posted an update on our family. So, this one will be packed with fun pics and cute stories.

Let's start with Austin. I've always had a hard time letting Austin feed himself the messy foods, like spaghettios, yogurt and applesauce. He's great using a fork, but when it comes to a spoon he just makes a mess. Well, like most things you never learn unless you practice. Here's what happened when I let Austin "practice" feeding himself spaghettios. Notice, I took his shirt off before I gave him the spoon.

Notice NONE of it is going in his mouth.

Another cute story about Austin. Earlier this week I was sitting on the couch going through images on my camera. Austin came up to me and started what I thought was humming. I thought nothing of it, but he kept doing and was starting right at me.

I then realized he was trying to say CHEESE. A while back I was trying to take his picture and I kept saying cheese to try and get him to smile. Well apparently he's figure out if the camera is in mommy's hands and he wants his picture taken that's what to say! I pointed the camera at him and started saying CHEESE too and he got a big grin on his face! He really does know a lot more than I give him credit for!

Next, is our giant baby, Mr. Dillin Pierce. Our not so little Dillin is now 5 1/2 months and in 9 month clothes. He's long and strong! The only rolls on this kid are on his thighs and as you know we've been working on feeding him solids. I figure he's getting hungry because his sleeping through the night has come to a screeching hault and he is now waking up at 2am hungry.

We've already established he likes rice cereal. Next I wanted to introduce veggies. With Austin I started off with fruits and when it was time for veggies he protested. I thought if I started Dillin off with veggies he wouldn't have anything yummier to compare it to and wouldn't protest quite so much. I was wrong.

We started with peas and mixed in a little rice cereal to help with the taste. He ate the whole jar, but has some choice expressions for us.

Here he is gagging, trying to figure out what to do with the green mush in his mouth.

He is clearly not impressed.

Thinking, "What are you doing to me, this stuff is nasty!"

I will end this post with a few pics from our dinner/baby party this weekend. We had some of my old friends and their babes over. We've been through grade school, junior high, high school and college together. So, it was a blast seeing them and their babes. Abby, Marian's daughter is 7 months old. Dylan, Katie's son, was born on December 12th.

It was very difficult to get Austin to sit still for any photos with the babes, so you won't see him here. We wanted a few pics of the little ones together. Everyone started with smiles...

But, then they started tormenting Abby...
So, she did what any girl would do and fought back...

Then she tries to escape...

and they both try and stop her...

Then Katie cuts in to try and help a girl out...

Boys will be boys...and Abby cleary had enough.
